New Halfords Store under way at Riverside Retail Park

Williams Tarr have commenced a design and build contract to construct a new Halfords retail store at Riverside Retail Park, Warrington for property investors Warrington Riverside Pradera Limited. The new unit infills space between the existing Homebase & Sports Direct stores on the busy shopping park. Strict site management will be required to maintain the safety of the general public and avoid disruption to the trading of adjoining live retail premises.

Initial works have been carried out to relocate extensive live services and install a new self-contained security building with all services plumbed in. Substructure operations are now progressing and involve the excavation and disposal of some contaminated materials.

The building structure is designed as a stand-alone with foundations tight up to the adjacent unit, with the roof and cladding envelope being designed to connect to the neighbouring Sports Direct store in compliance with the party wall agreement.

Williams Tarr have appointed 3D Reid as Architects and Cundalls as civil/structural engineers, Sweett Group are acting as the Employer’s Agent and QS. The contract is scheduled for completion in April 2016.

Williams Tarr’s D&B Director John Hughes commented:

We have particular expertise on projects in live retail environments and we’re delighted to have won this contract. It’s good to land a job on our doorstep, and whilst it’s our first project for Pradera I’m sure it won’t be the last
